What is obesity?
Obesity is a condition that caused by abnormal body fat deposits. These days because of many reasons such as lack of exercises, heavy intake of food and mostly the busyness people easily get caught by obesity knowingly or unknowingly. Most people around the world get this disease as a simple and ignorable one. But the truth is this disease is more complex than you think and this can turn you in to a life time patient or worst. For examples this increase the risk for growing other diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and mostly heart diseases.
According to the WHO classifications they classify people who have their BMI (Body Mass Index) value 30 or higher as people with obesity. Below table shows how it works.

|Over weight||25 – 29.9|

But did you know what BMI value is?
BMI or Body Mass Index is a measure that we use to measure person’s body fat based on the height and weight of that considerable person male or female.
So that the BMI value of a person is equals to,
BMI = (mass (kg))/(height (m)×height (m))
Let’s consider an example for your better knowledge: If a person’s height is 150 cm and his or her weight is 50 kg, then what is his or her BMI value?
BMI = 50kg/(1.5m ×1.5m)
So by this value you can decide the person is in a healthy way or not. In my opinion he is fine.

What are the types of obesity?
Ok. Now you all are somewhat aware about obesity. So let’s take another step. Let’s talk about the types of obesity.
There are three main types of obesity issues that we can get infected. They are,
- 1st type :Obesity class I
- 2nd type :Obesity class II
- 3rd type :Obesity class III
Let’s get a brief knowledge about these things one by one.
1st type : Obesity class I
Now you know what BMI value is. If the BMI value of a person is between 30.0 to 34.9 that person is in the class I obesity stage. This stage is at low risk. The effects are less and low ability to growing other diseases. But remember this is the pre stage of getting bad. So we should try to get our BMI value to the normal stage if we are in the class I.
2nd type : Obesity class II
Now it’s the second stage of the obesity. If the BMI value of a person is between 35.0 to 39.9 that person is in the class II obesity. This is a stage at moderate risk. The effects can be serious and there is a considerable probability to pull in to another disease. So if your BMI value is in this stage, you should really consider about managing obesity.
3rd type : Obesity class III
If you are in this stage, you better be hurry. Because you are in a trouble. This is the high risk stage of the obesity. If the BMI value of a person is 40.0 or higher that person is in the class III obesity. The effects can be very serious and there is 95% chance you got caught in heart diseases and others. So if your BMI value is in this stage you should better get medical advices and control your mouth.
So these are the types of obesity you should mainly know about. Check your BMI at least per month and refer this again and again and get better.

If you want a simple explanation about how obesity occurs, that because due to the imbalance of the energy received and released by the body. But it’s not that simple. It’s a results of some combined factors. So let’s talk about some of the main factors and then we can prevent those things.
The main factor that most people diseased from obesity is their unsuitable life styles and bat habits. So that they have to suffer from obesity unknowingly. Let’s see what those bad habits that can cause obesity are.
- Unhealthy diet
With their works people use to get more and more fast food these days. So more and more people like buying obesity these days. Most of the fast foods are full of calories and without a way to burn those calories that leads us to obesity. We must try to get a healthy diet with full of vegetables, fruits, proteins and less of fast food, soft drinks and other calories.
- Lack of exercises
As above people are working 24/7 these days. So they have no time to do some exercises. No exercises means no burning of calories. No burning means obesity. Calories are entering our body whether we get a balanced diet or not. So we have to remove the extra calories from our body. The way to do that is exercising.
- Lack of sleep
Various hormonal changes are growing up because of not getting enough sleep. So that can cause obesity. Also the lack of sleep can lead to stress. Stress is also a major factor that cause us obesity.

- Stopping smoking
Oh my god. If I quit smoking I get obesity! Don’t get me wrong. Stopping smoking is a way to gain weight. That will lead you to obesity. But hear me out. You can get many more advantages by quitting this. By correct guidance you can stop smoking without getting obesity.
2.Genetics and family inheritance
Several genes have now been found that cause members of the same family to be prone to obesity. This is because genes play a role in the process of converting food in to energy and its regulation.
A number of hormones contribute to obesity. For examples mostly the hormones secreted by the intestine and adipose tissue can lead us to this.
These days some medications happen to lead us to obesity. Some of them are steroids, antiepileptic, antipsychotics etc. When you use these medications you better be careful and you should get medical reference before get them.
Some of the pre diseases also can cause us obesity. Most of them are diseases related with hormones. For examples we can get diseases related with the hypothalamus, hypothyroidism and Cushing’s syndrome. If you are a pre diseased person with these diseases you better be careful.
Economy also effect this. Because of the lack of money people do not get a balanced and healthy diet and get more used to fast foods and soft drinks. So that they are in danger to be susceptible to this disease.

So if you are an obesity patient the first sign you notice is your BMI value is 30 or higher value.
The second sign you can identify whether you are an obesity patient or not is your waist size.
Men with a waist size greater than 40 inches and women with a waist size greater than 35 inches have a greater risk for obesity and also diabetes too. The above diagram shows the correct way you should measure your waist size.
By giving your attention for these signs and symptoms you can easily manage obesity by doing the right thing at the right time.
How to treat for obesity?
With the correct guidance you can treat this disease by your own. For better I will give you the treatments via 5 steps. That will help you out from this disease easily and properly. Ok let’s see.
1. The urge to get rid of obesity
From this you will manage to concentrate on identifying the reasons for obesity and on minimizing them.
2. Setting up a weight loss goal
You have to work to a certain goal. It’s important for your life too. In this case don’t set up a goal that you cannot reach. Try to reduce your body weight by 5%-10% from your body weight within a week or two. Then keep it on. That’s how you have to do this.
3. Changing the life style

- Do not watch TV while eating
You should first try the above mentioned things. Always keep this in mind. “Do not move to the medications first when there are healthy alternatives”. But if and if only in a case of above methods did not working you can use medications for handling obesity. For an example you can use orlistat for reducing your body weight. Remember before you focus on medication you should really meet your doctor. Otherwise don’t.

i. Getting a better knowledge of high caloric foods and reduce the usage
ii. Less intake of cleaned carbohydrates and more of complex carbohydrates
iii. Less intake of more fats and always try fresh vegetables and fruits
iv. Drink more water about 2.4 liters a day and less intake of soft drinks
v. Avoid missing the main meals and taking unusual extra meals
2. Changing physical activities
You know the main function of doing exercises is it stops the increase of body weight than reduce body weight. And also as I said it helps to improve your heart and respiratory activities. Don’t you think it’s worth a shot? Here is the way you should follow.
i. You should start this slowly as a start and then you have to extend the works. And the other thing is you should follow a same way for your exercises. Do not use one way for one day and another for another. At least you should engage in exercises for 30-45 minutes for a day for 3-5 days a week
